Other Service ProgramsVAAA contracts with several service providers who provide the following programs:
Adult Day CareSupervision, personal care, meals, transportation, and social activities are provided in a group setting to those unable to care for themselves.
Elder Abuse Prevention and EducationAn Elder Abuse Specialist provides public education, outreach, and referral services with respect to the prevention of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults.
Health ScreeningsComprehensive health screenings are conducted by a registered nurse at various locations. Optional tests include cholesterol, cancer, diabetes, glaucoma, and Alzheimer's/dementia.
Hearing Impaired ServicesA staff fluent in American Sign Language provides information and casework services to older persons who are deaf or who are experiencing hearing loss.
Information and AssistanceAccess to comprehensive information on elder care-- including all services listed on our web site, senior housing options, and insurance and public benefits counseling.
Legal ServicesLegal assistance, counseling, and technical information are provided in the areas of public benefits, abuse and neglect, and housing.
Nursing Home Assistance (Long Term Care Ombudsman)Residents of long-term care facilities are assisted in resolving complaints; information regarding long-term care services is provided.
OutreachA staff fluent in English and Spanish provides Information & Assistance, home visits, and casework services.
Visual ImpairmentClients are provided assistance in developing coping skills through in-home rehabilitation.
