    REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP)

    Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) is requesting proposals for funding services in fiscal years 2010-2012 for persons 60 years or older residing in Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee Counties.     OLDER WORKER PROGRAMS

    VAAA will discontinue its Older Worker Programs, including Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and the Worker Investment Act (WIA) programs as of June 30, 2008.

    Mandatory Provider Workshops

    The Valley Area Agency on Aging (VAAA) will be hosting Provider Workshops for those interested in providing senior services through the Direct Purchase of Service and Older Americans Act funding

    ALL TV BROADCASTS TO BECOME DIGITAL

    Regular TV, as we know it, will change one year from now, on February 17, 2009. On that date, TV stations will stop broadcasting over-the-air analog TV, and begin broadcasting digital TV.     [read more]

    Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage Annual Open Enrollment Period

    Medicare Open Enrollment begins November 15, 2007 through December 31, 2007 for Medicare beneficiaries who want to switch to another Medicare Prescription Drug plan or enroll in a plan for the first time. Beneficiaries who are satisfied with their current Medicare Prescription Drug plan do not have to re-enroll in their plan.     [read more]

    Valley Area Agency on Aging Awards Funds for Fiscal Year 2008

    The Valley Area Agecy on Aging Board of Directors approved VAAA’s Fiscal Year 2008 grant awards to community agencies serving senior citizens in Genesee, Lapeer, and Shiawassee Counties. In accordance with VAAA, grant recipients will provide seniors with a variety of services including home-delivered meals, congregate meals, senior center activities, respite care, legal assistance, in-home services, hearing and vision services, and adult day care.     [read more]

    Valley Area Agency on Aging Announces the Vacation Respite Program in Genesee County

    The Vacation Respite Program provides vouchers for out-of-home respite for caregivers who provide at-home support for an elderly or disabled person. The program allows the caregiver to place their loved one in a safe, caring facility for up to 7 days so the caregiver may take a well deserved vacation.     [read more]
